Utopian Landscapes: Asia through the Looking Glass, deals with my travels in South East and Central Asia. The countries discussed are Burma, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Singapore, Nepal, and Tibet. I lived in Asia for five years, and can speak and read both Mandarin and Japanese. Memorable moments of the writing include an interview with the last king of Burma and a meeting the world leader of the Hare Krishna movement, as well as the experience of traveling Nepal in the middle of a civil war. and visiting Tibet on the 40th anniversary gala celebration of its “liberation” by China.
